The first cross strait navigation Culture Festival opens in our school in 2019

July 8, the 1st Cross Strait Navigation Culture Festival in 2019 was ceremoniously opened in the university student activity center at JMI. President Wan Jian, Sun Hongcui, deputy director of the exchange department of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Jiangsu Province, Ru Yixian, director of the Cooperation and Exchange Department of the Education Department of Jiangsu Province, Tang Chunhui, director of the Crew Department of Jiangsu Maritime Administration, Wang Shengwen, Dean of the School of Marine Science and Technology of Taipei University of Marine Science and Technology, Zhao Zhigang, Deputy Secretary General of China Zhenghe Research Association and director of the Marine Culture Professional Committee of Jiangsu Province, and other leaders and teachers attended the meeting. More than 150 teachers and students from Taiwan Ocean University, Taipei Ocean University of Science and Technology, Taiwan Longhwa University of Science and Technology, Yan'an Vocational and Technical College, Tianjin Maritime Vocational College, Zhejiang International Maritime Vocational and Technical College, Jiangsu Maritime Institute and other seven institutions attended the event. The opening ceremony was presided over by Liu Hongming, Secretary of the Party committee of JMI.


President Wan Jian first extended a warm welcome to the teachers and students from both sides of the Straits who participated in the exchange activity on behalf of the host of the activity, and thanked the Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office, provincial education department and Jiangsu Maritime Bureau for their support and concern for the event. He briefed the guests on the basic situation of JMI, focusing on the exploration of the school in the cross-strait teacher-student exchange projects in recent years. He pointed out that this year's first cross-strait maritime culture festival will build a solid bridge and promote the cross-strait Maritime Education Exchange and cooperation to achieve more long-term development.


Dean Wang Shengwen delivered a speech as a representative of Taiwan teachers. He is full of expectation for this navigation cultural festival and thanks JMI for its great organization and warm hospitality. He hopes that this activity can promote the mutual learning and exchange between teachers and students of navigation major on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.


In his speech, director Tang Chunhui reviewed Zheng He's historical feat of going to the west, looked forward to the broad prospect of cooperation in the field of navigation education between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits, and put forward the expectation for the new generation of navigation students, encouraged them to tap the essence of traditional navigation culture, and innovate and enrich its connotation, so that it can continue to carry forward.


Director Ru Yixian highly affirmed the contribution of JMI in promoting cross strait cultural exchanges. She pointed out that carrying forward the spirit of navigation and inheriting the navigation culture are of great significance at present, and the cultural exchange activities of navigation will also provide a platform for young teachers and students on both sides to learn from each other and grow together.


The second stage of the opening ceremony was presided over by Fan Jie, deputy director of JMI Student Affairs Office, and representatives of young students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait spoke one after another. Representatives of all participating institutions came to the stage to participate in the launching ceremony of this cultural festival.


After the opening ceremony, all participants took group photos. Since then, the 1st Cross Strait Navigation Culture Festival 2019 with the theme of "Youth goes with the ocean" has begun. In the coming week, more than 60 young students from both sides will join hands to embark on the navigation culture journey, including navigation skill exchange and navigation culture visit. Through a series of activities, we believe that each young student can enhance the inheritance and promotion of navigation culture while broadening their vision The spirit of responsibility and sense of responsibility, and in exchange activities to harvest the deep friendship between the youth on both sides.
